GOD’S REMINDER: “A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life.” (Proverbs 13:7)
NOTE TO SELF: I’m not one for these “housewives” reality shows, mainly because I think society feeds on disaster, and those shows are train wrecks.
Those women were chosen to do the shows because they seemingly have the life every woman wants: fame, riches, love, family, friends, notoriety, favor, glamor, and attitude. Again, I don’t even watch these shows, but I see enough in the grocery store checkout lane to know that these so-called, glamorous lives, are empty and shallow and lead to nothing more but heartache and destruction.
My husband and I lead a very, very, incredibly boring life. Or so it may seem to the outside world. Our relationship is based on total loyalty and a desire to be with one another. We don’t “long” for girls or boys night out. We don’t wish to be single again. We don’t get tired sitting at home night after night. We don’t need to be entertained in order to feel fulfilled.
The simplicity of our marriage is what makes it a fulfilling one. Our lack of luxuries is what keeps us grounded and attentive to each other’s needs. We don’t need distractions from one another, in fact, we avoid them at all costs.
