GOD’S REMINDER: “I'll delight in doing good things for them. Heart and soul!” Jeremiah 32:41
NOTE TO SELF: Nothing we say or do earns God’s favor. It is His pure delight to do good things for us.
I know this may sound silly, but one night watching the Packers play the Bears, I tried to speak a prophetic word about my favorite player, Clay Matthews. I said, “Okay Clay, give me two sacks tonight. Three would be even better, but I’ll settle for two.”
During the game, Clay Matthews sacked Bear’s quarterback, Jay Cutler, twice and I rejoiced. But then later in the game, he sacked him one last time. What happened next felt like a “delight” from God. Clay got up and counted on his fingers, “One, two, three,” for the three sacks he got on Cutler that night. I sang out proudly, “My God loves me so much!”
To the average person, that sounds utterly ridiculous, but for those of us who are children of God, we know He will do the smallest or simplest things to show us He loves us, because He delights in doing so!
Clay Matthews has no idea how he was used in God’s love for me, but I’m glad he was a willing participant in the fun!
