NOTE TO SELF: When I was a music journalist, over twenty years ago, one thing I loved most about the job was free access anywhere I wanted to go before, during and after the concerts. I had the liberty to watch from the behind the scenes, or in the front row. I got to hang out with the bands before they went on stage and after their show. I could boldly go where the majority of people only dreamed of going. With my “all access” pass, I approached the security guards without fear of being rejected or turned away.
God says that our faith is our “all access” pass to Him. It gives us liberty to cry, rejoice, scream, be angry, or mourn with Him. Most people don’t know our God. They only have tickets to the main event, and only a select few have good seats. Their god is far away and they strain to see Him in the darkness of their lives. Their ticket is no good for anything else but to hear the show, with little to see and no real interaction.
We are sons and daughters of the King of kings! We are partakers in ruling over Heaven and Earth. We are royalty. We have an all access pass to everything God does, because Christ’s blood gave us that privilege. However, that doesn’t make us God anymore than my all access pass made me a rock star. It just gives us a secure place in the Kingdom of Heaven, where we can boldly approach God without fear!
PRAYER: Lord God, we are honored and humbled by Your desire to give us free access to Your throne, where we can boldly approach You with all of our fears, concerns, triumphs, or sorrows. We don’t need to fear wrath or punishment, because that price has already been paid for us. We will gladly uphold our duty as a child of the King. Amen.
JOURNAL: Write about what free access means to you. Have you ever experienced complete and free access somewhere, or for something? How did that make you feel? Now compare that with the free access to God. Write about what that means.
