We are currently using the curriculum by, Answers in Genesis, and I absolutely love it, as does Tavin. All week, we have been learning about the Trinity, and used examples of an egg and a weed, each being one thing, but with three different parts. He has also completely memorized Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Much like this scripture, my life is…”in the beginning” again. I’m creating, I’m teaching, I’m learning. My life is a Genesis 1:1. What I love most about that scripture is stopping at the word, God.
“In the beginning God…”Need I say more?
Although Tavin can already count to eleven, we are focusing on the numbers 1 and 2 (per the curriculum) and learning how to write them. The other day he walked up to the chalkboard after his nap and proudly said, “Look Mommy! I did a 2!!” Look at how proud he is…
So I apologize for not keeping up with the blog this past week. Homeschooling takes a LOT of getting used to. Tavin is used to a free for all kind of day, and now he needs to learn structure, which includes trying to get him to quietly sit still for more than 10 seconds…not easy! And putting his weekly curriculum together, as well as creating all of his daily activities, has tied me up.
But the good news is…
I know many of you have been praying diligently for me and my family and our financial situation. Well, my husband just received a job offer for a medical warehouse company in Illinois. The pay is decent (still less than what we were making before), but they offer great monthly bonuses, paid healthcare, AND my best friend will be his supervisor and Jared will be riding to work with him each day, so that will relieve the heavy burden of having to pay for gas. And the best part of all: it’s a stable, full-time, year-round job. Things will still be tight, but it’ll be better than the minimum wage he’s making now. So thanks to all of you who have been so loving and kind and continued praying for us.
I have been hired as a daily writer for a ministry site. I will be sharing the site with you in the next couple of weeks. Please be on the lookout for that and make sure to share it with your friends and family.
So that’s where I’ve been…again. I’m sorry that it’s been so inconsistent lately, but I’m trying so many new things in my life that has been a bit overwhelming (art journaling (see below), scrapbooking, making homemade journals, card making, homeschooling, and all the other things that go along with being a “home” maker). Some would say this is part of my grieving process, and I would say that those saying it…would be right.
I’m truly going to try and get this blog up and running again on a daily basis, but please bear with me until I do.
See you soon!
