NOTE TO SELF: I didn’t one day just wake up and say, “Today is the day I’m going to follow Christ.” No. My life of Salvation was a direct response to God’s awesome power. And the rest of my days from that day forward have also been a response to His power, not of my own doing.
Before I gave my life to Christ, I felt a terrible struggle going on, so much so that I yelled to the Heavens, “Just one of you win this battle already!” Even though at the time I didn’t know what I believed, I knew something spiritual and powerful was happening. And within a few short days after crying out like that, I chose to respond to God’s power.
A life of faith stands out above all other lives. I once described that “standing out” as being viewed by the world as circus freaks. We do not—we cannot!—live a life of faith without responding to God’s power, because it is His power that gives us the strength to live a life of faith that looks like a life of faith.
We have a choice in the matter of living a life of faith. We choose to either respond to God, revealing fruits of the spirit; or we choose to respond to the world by revealing that we look and act no differently than anyone else.
When God calls us, we’ll know. There will be two forces tugging at us. One will scratch and try to push us. The other will gently nudge us and lead us. We respond to either one.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, our faith is dependent on Your power and our response to that power. Help us to discern Your power over the constant pulling power of the world. Let our lives reflect faith that glorifies only You, Father. Amen.
JOURNAL: Write about God’s power in your life and how you respond to Him.
