NOTE TO SELF: There is a perfectly good explanation as to why most of our politicians and leaders are not “sound.” They do not have a moral foundation.
If we consider what’s happening in our country today, many of our freedoms are in jeopardy. The moral fiber of our country is being weakened. Just because something is made into a law does not make it right.
“Everything is permissible (allowable and lawful) for me; but not all things are helpful (good for me to do, expedient and profitable when considered with other things). Everything is lawful for me, but I will not become the slave of anything or be brought under its power” (1 Corinthians 6:12 AMP).
When it comes to election time, we are told we shouldn’t take into account if the person who will be representing us is a Christian or not. Don’t you want someone in office who has a good moral foundation? That doesn’t read, “perfect.” It means they are aware of their strengths and weaknesses. They are willing to uphold everything that is good and right, instead of following the immoral trend of anything-goes just for a vote.
God, again, is providing us insight into what a sound leadership looks like. He is very explicit about how a country should be, what it should look like, and who should be in charge. I believe we are very close to living in a country that God warned us about. In order to turn things around, we need to start voting in sound leaders who have a good moral foundation.
PRAYER: Father, this year we have big decisions to make concerning our country. We are privileged and honored to be able to express our opinions and beliefs at the voting polls. This year, help us to choose wisely. Help us to be discerning about the so-called “moral foundations” of those running for election. Strengthen the moral fiber of our country, Lord. Bring back integrity, values, and high moral standards. Amen.
