Meditate on God’s Word

declare in the morning

MY PRAYER: Lord Jesus, even though things don’t always go my way, I’m still grateful for your lovingkindness and faithfulness. You are the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thought that crosses my mind as I close my eyes at night. Throughout my day I am always thinking of Your wondrous ways. I find myself often in awe of Your beauty with each sunrise, and the power of the bright hanging moon at dusk.

Things are incredibly rough for us right now, but even when I don’t hear You, or don’t see an answer in site, I know You are always near. No matter how bleak things seem in my own life, I give You thanks for loving me and taking care of me.

REMINDER FROM GOD: Wake up! Put your face in the sunlight. My bright glory has risen for you, My sunrise glory breaks over you. I will be your eternal light and bathe you in splendor. Your sun will never go down, your moon will never fade. I will be your eternal light, your days of grieving are over.

It is with lasting love that I tenderly care for you. My love won’t walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won’t fall apart. Pat attention, come close now, listen carefully to My life-giving, life-nourishing Words. I will wake you in the morning and open your ears; when you are tired, I will encourage you. If you wake up each morning with the sound of My loving voice, you will go to sleep each night trusting Me. Stay in My presence, take My hand, and I will wisely and tenderly lead you and then bless you. I’m all you need in both heaven and on earth. My faithfulness is rock-solid.

{Isaiah 60: 1-3, 19-20; 54:8, 10; 55:3; 50:4; Psalm 143:8; 73:23-26}

NOTE TO SELF: A few weeks ago I signed up for Joseph Prince’s, Meditate for Success devotional series. Today was the first day of the series with Psalm 92:1-2 as the scripture to meditate upon throughout the day.

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night.”

Although this is a natural routine of mine anyway, it was a good reminder to stay focused on God’s goodness no matter what’s going on in my life. God’s own voice—His very Word—is meant to be my encouragement. That is how He takes my hand. That is how He leads me. His life-giving Word is how He blesses me, with promises I can always lean on and depend upon.

{Meditating on God’s Word isn’t mystical or new agey, it’s how we survive. Pick a scripture each day that relates to your current situation. Write it down and read it several times throughout the day. Reflect on what it means to you. How can you apply it to your everyday life?}
