One Hit Wonders

one hit wonder

MY PRAYER: I’ve been foolishly wasting my time, God. I’ve set my sites on fame and success. I’ve been entering my blog in every networking site, every affiliate promoter, every blog directory…and what did I get? One hit wonders. What does traffic matter if no one cares about who You are, or what You have to say to them? What does it matter if no one ever comes back after that first initial visit? I’ve lost my focus on driving in traffic, rather than focusing on what this blog is really about. That will never bring the right kind of success. God, use me and this blog as You see fit. Bring the right people here who are seeking You and desire to hear from You.

REMINDER FROM GOD: Mortals make elaborate plans, but I have the last word. They are satisfied with whatever looks good; I probe for what is good. Don't work yourself into the spotlight; don't push your way into the place of prominence. Don't call attention to yourself; let others do that for you.

Be still and wait patiently for Me. Try not to fret when others succeed in their ways. Don’t wish to succeed like [them]. Get insurance with Me and do a good deed, settle down and stick to My faithfulness. Keep company with Me and get in on the best. Keep opening up before Me, keep nothing back; I’ll do whatever needs to be done: I’ll validate your life in the clear of day and stamp you with approval.

Don’t bother with those who climb the ladder, who elbow their way to the top. God-investors [that’s you!] will soon own the store! Your heart pumps My Word like blood through your veins. Work for the good and don’t quit. Your good deeds are being planted on good land and putting down healthy roots. I keep track of you, [and what you do for Me] won’t soon be forgotten. When the shelves are bare, they’ll be full. Delight yourself in Me and I will give you the desires of your heart. Commit it all to Me and I will bring it to pass. I AM preparing the road you take, and I will make your plans succeed. You have a duty to all people, to reveal My righteousness through the Good News, [through My very Word].

I AM with you, and I will make you successful by heaven’s help! I want to see you succeed.

{Proverbs 16:1-2, 25:6; 27:2; Psalm 37:7; Psalm 37:3-9 (MSG & NKJV), 31, 29, 18-19; NKJV vv. 4-5; Psalm 1:6; Hebrews 1:14, 17; Psalm 20:4; Genesis 39:2; John 3:27; Psalm 106:5}

NOTE TO SELF: What truly matters most to me is that those who come here will receive a Word from God that directly speaks to their needs. I’m not interested in One Hit Wonders. I’m interested in God-investors, like myself. My hope for this devotional blog is to bless others. That’s also why I started the Blessing Blog Connection, in hopes that other bloggers will truly read, follow, and promote fellow bloggers on their sites in hopes of driving in real, honest, consistent traffic for them.

As I’ve been digging and digging, relentlessly trying to find ways to make this blog successful (by my own definition of what that means), I was contacted by someone who viewed my site and reminded me of its purpose. She told me that my site wasn’t a typical blog, but rather a ministry. And then she told me something I’ve yet to latch onto until today. She said, “In that case, God will bring the increase.”

God, I trust that You are blessing this blog. That You are the Director of traffic. You will send the right people here and they will stay connected and be loyal; not because of anything I do, but because of what You offer through me.

{Are you aiming high? Are you seeking success without God’s help? Are you trying to make it all happen on your own? God made Joseph successful in Egypt because He was with him. If God is with you, He will make you successful by HIS definition of the word.}

  1. Thank you for "Your heart pumps My Word like blood through your veins. Work for the good and don’t quit."

    I've been "starting a business" for months but haven't put action to my words because it felt wrong. The focus on making the money took all inspiration out of it. I love how my writing has become bigger than me, than the "bottom line" Am I still working to get my name out there? Yes, but that's not WHY I'm working. It's a side.

  4. Tristine,
    This is something I struggle with too. I've quit checking stats, I've just started posting what is on my heart and decided at your prompting, to start blessing blogs. I've not been in my google reader in a while, so will make that a weekly habit as well as commenting & tweeting what I am enjoying.

    Its such an easy thing, but with lasting impact.

    YOU are doing awesome things and HE will bless you for it!

  5. Marie, for a time it was all I could "control" with everything that was going on with our son. I found it to be an escape that I could realistically get angry about or frustrated over. I took off all of the froo-froo badges and kept those that are important to me. They weren't doing much for me anyway. I was just "desperate" to make something happen on my own instead of waiting for God to do it for me.

    I try to post what God speaks to me. I'm so glad that God also speaks to those who make a habit of coming here to see what He'll say next!
