My Leap of Real Faith

MY PRAYER: Lord Jesus, today I boldly placed myself out there. Today I stepped outside of my fear of what people think of me. Instead of being afraid of offering Your Good News to my friends and family, for fear they would reject me, I posted to the world:

“I'm giving ALL my facebook friends an opportunity to take a ‘leap of faith’: Wouldn’t it be nice to be emotionally healed and whole? To not carry guilt and shame anymore? To just be free of the past and all of your mistakes or shortcomings? Who wouldn’t want that?
If you want to know just how MUCH God loves YOU, I'd love to talk with you privately. Take a leap of REAL faith, and ask God to reveal Himself to you in a MIGHTY way! I'll be happy to pray for you or answer any questions you may have. You really have NOTHING to lose...but EVERYTHING to gain! I hope to hear from you.”

And then I did the unthinkable. I asked my mother to accept Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Most people wouldn’t think this would be much of a leap of faith, but if they knew my mother, they would gasp in horror.

My mother has never been very receptive to my faith. She has always considered it to be cultish. She is Catholic, and although I believe there are Catholics who are saved and will go to heaven, I want her to experience Your absolute freedom and peace during her final days.

Since finding out that her cancer has probably spread into her bones, and the chemo is no longer able to fight the cancer from rapidly spreading, I realized her time is probably short now. I had to stop fearing her anger against my faith, or her never ceasing ability to shut me down whenever I talk about You. She had to know the truth at all costs. I had to take that risk.

REMINDER FROM GOD: Pay no attention to insults, and when mocked don't let it get you down. There is no need to be ashamed of My Good News, because it is the power of My salvation. [I encourage anyone who is curious about Me to] come boldly to the throne of grace, to obtain My mercy. If they declare with their mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in their heart that I was raised from the dead, they will be saved. For it is with the heart that one believes and is justified, and it is with the mouth that profession of faith enables them to be saved.

I’ll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I will stick with them, never leaving them for a minute. Even if I am their last chance, their only hope for life, I will listen and bring showers of blessing. I will round up all the scattered children, because I want them back! [Encourage them today that] I am the One who takes care of their sins—that’s what I do! I don’t keep a list of their sins.

[They are more than welcome to] make a case against Me, to make their arguments and prove that they believe they are in the right. The basic reality of Who I AM is plain enough. [They just need to] open their eyes, and there it is! The moment I hear them, I will answer. I will provide the rain for the seeds you’ve sown. I will pour water on the thirsty ground and send streams coursing through the parched earth. They will write on their hands: GOD’S PROPERTY!

How beautiful are the feet of the messengers bringing Good News; proclaiming good times, announcing salvation. You are my witness. You’re my handpicked servant. You’re My evidence that I AM the only Savior there is. Out of the goodness of My heart, I will lavishly reveal Myself. I've paid a HUGE price for them. That's how much they mean to me! That's how much I love them! I'd sell the whole world to get them back, trade the creation just for them.

{Isaiah 51:6; Romans 1:16; Hebrews 4:16; Romans 10:9; Isaiah 42:16; Psalm 142:5-7; Isaiah 43:5, 25-26; Romans 1:19; Isaiah 30:19,23; 44:3-5; 52:7; 43:10-11; 42:21; 43:4}

NOTE TO SELF: We are God’s evidence of His very existence! What an amazing discovery to learn that God saves us for His glory as evidence of His saving power!

God also makes a way for those who are questioning His existence by allowing them to bring a case against Him. He’s happy to reveal Himself to those who want answers and seek the truth.

{This may be the day God wants to change your life! Have you ever found yourself wondering about God, or questioning the purpose of your life? If you are feeling drawn, don't hesitate. Present your case before Him!}

Did you take a leap of faith today? If so, please share what you’ve done, or plan to do.

  1. Tristine, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom...I can only imagine how you're feeling. I'm glad that you are sharing your faith with her. Don't ever be afraid!

  2. When I first got saved, talking about Jesus was all that ever came out of my mouth. Along the way something happened, and I just didn't do it as often. I still share my faith, but it's usually with those who ask. My mom is an incredibly "tough nut" to crack. She's very stubborn and strong-willed. She doesn't like to be told ANYTHING--because she needs to be the one DOING the telling. I've shared my faith with her years ago, and even very subtly recently, but she always shuts me down, rolls her eyes at me, or gets angry with me.

    As a matter of fact, my mother, herself, is a pretty scary woman. So much so, that my husband has said on several occasions that cancer is probably afraid of HER! :)
