Life & Death

“Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.” Proverbs 18:21 MSG

MY PRAYER: Lord, my life has never been filled with encouraging words from other people. In fact, most of my life I was told how unimportant I was. After years and years of criticism, I often find myself lacking the self-confidence I need in order to succeed in life. Father, how do I know I have what it takes to pursue my dreams and finally believe in myself?

REMINDER FROM GOD: Don’t quit in hard times; instead, pray harder. Learn the power of speaking life into your life, and not death. Put your confidence in Me, and not what man says. I have, in fact, the greatest confidence in you. If you only knew how proud I am of you. I am overwhelmed with joy despite all of our troubles. I plan on sticking around with you, being a companion to you as you grow in trusting Me more and more, which will bring you so much joy in your life. Forget about self-confidence, it’s useless; cultivate your confidence in Me.

{Romans 12:12; Proverbs 18:21; Psalm 118:8; 2 Corinthians 7:4; Philippians 1:25; 1 Corinthians 10:12}

NOTE TO SELF: What’s said to us matters a great deal, and what we say to others has the same impact that it would have on us. Critical words dig deep and plant themselves, growing useless weeds that never sprouts goodness. Instead of listening to what man says—that can be our parents, friends, relatives, our spouse, or even an enemy—God insists that we listen to what He says about us.
