A Heart Overwhelmed

heart talk
“I will cry out to you when my heart is overwhelmed.” Psalm 61:2

MY PRAYER: Lord God, Father in Heaven, My Savior, My Hope, My Redeemer…My Shelter. I need you more than ever today. My son is going in for a colonoscopy and an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy). My fears are like a double-edged sword. On the one side I don’t want them to find anything wrong; however, if they don’t find anything wrong he will continue to suffer in excruciating pain without answers. How does a parent live with that kind of need? A need for something to be actually wrong with their child in hopes that they can be healed? I need You to be with him today. I need you to be with us. To calm us down, to lighten this load, to heal our inner pain that torments us night after night as we watch him suffer day in and day out. Please Father, reassure me that his suffering is not Your will.

REMINDER FROM GOD: I alone am your strength, and you can do anything through that very strength I provide. Trust in My goodness; don’t lean on your own understanding [of who I am]. For I AM the Lord your God who takes you by the right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’ You may be hard pressed on every side, but you will not be crushed. I have sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you, but my kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall my covenant of peace be removed.

Be confident that the good work I have started in you [and your family] will be carried out to completion. Cast your anxieties upon Me…I care about you. Come to me in your weariness and when you feel overwhelmed with burdens, and I will give you rest. I am gentle and humble in heart, and in Me you will find rest for your soul. My yoke is easy and my burden is light. I, who dwells within you, AM greater than he who is in the world. I am near you in your broken heartedness, and when your spirit is crushed, I will save you. I AM upholding you with my righteous right hand. You are surrounded by songs of deliverance. I have ordered My angels to guard you wherever you go. I made an everlasting covenant to be your God and the God of your children. Oh, how I love you…

{Philippians 4:13; Proverbs 3:5; Isaiah 41:13; 2 Corinthians 4:8; Isaiah 54:9-10; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 11:28-30; 1 John 4:4; Isaiah 41:10; Psalm 32:7; Psalm 91:11; Genesis 17:7; Psalm 1:1}

NOTE TO SELF: Sin and sorrow entered the world on that fateful day in the Garden of Eden. God’s intention was for us to never know trouble, heartache, suffering, poverty, sickness or disease. Because God is Good. (Always.) God is Love. (Everlasting.) God is Compassionate. (Unfailing.)

I am lifting my head up today towards the heavens, and expecting songs of deliverance and angels to guard my son. Whatever happens, or doesn’t happen to my little boy, I know God will take care of him. He began a great work in him, and He made a promise to me—and to him—that is everlasting.

{What troubles are you facing that you need reassurance about today? Imagine literally leaning on God. Imagine Him holding you up and angels surrounding you. Can you find rest for your weary soul there?}
