The Accused

job accused
“Satan, the Designated Accuser, came along with them.” Job 1:6

MY PRAYER: Father, I must confess that the accuser has caused a great division between us. I have listened to the lie that You don’t care, and believed it. Much like Job, I felt afflicted by You. I have approached You in all honesty. I have set myself in front of You, pleading my innocent case. Days drag on, weeks pass by, and Your voice is silent, Your strong hand absent, and Your love seems far. What will become of all this affliction?

REMINDER FROM GOD: My friend Job was honest with Me, therefore I restored him. I AM your Redeemer God. I may have left you for a moment, but now with great compassion I’m bringing you back. [Like an] afflicted and storm-battered city, I’m about to rebuild you with stones of turquoise, lay your foundations with sapphires, construct your towers with rubies, your gates with jewels, and your walls with precious stones. You’ll be rebuilt solid, grounded in righteousness, far from trouble—it won’t even come close! I’ll see to it that everything works out for the best. I have made a lasting covenant commitment with you. I am taking my place on the bench, and I will throw out the false charges against you. Any accuser who takes you to court will be dismissed as a liar! No weapon formed against you shall prosper. When the enemy intends to harm you, I will turn it around for your good. Keep praying for your friends and family, and I will restore all that you lost and then some! I will put your life back together.

{Job 42:8; Isaiah 54:7-17 (both MSG & NIV); Psalm 7:7; Genesis 50:20; Job 42:10 Psalm 4:8}

NOTE TO SELF: The main purpose of the accuser is to cause a division between us and God. In our times of trouble when God seems far, the enemy plants seeds of doubt and discontentment in our mind. He then bloats it with constant confusion and tormenting turmoil, turning his scrawny finger away from himself and towards the sky blaming God. Like Job, we need to be honest and real with God; that is what He honors. He doesn’t seek a pious and religious attitude filled with rituals and rules. He seeks your heart. Whether you’re right or wrong doesn’t matter. What counts is your ability to still seek Him and listen when He does speak.

Although the enemy can be quite convincing at times, deep in my Spirit I know that God is on my side. Many times I have actually fought to walk away; however, my Spirit nagged me with the Truth and it was impossible to stay away for too long.

{Job was harsh with God. Why do you think God honored him over his friends who took up for God? How can you defeat the enemy’s lies, and how can it affect your relationship with God?}
