Purpose

"God didn't send me out to collect a following for myself, but to preach the Message of what He has done, collecting a following for Him" (1 Corinthians 1:17)

Not Always

“How long...”
(Psalm 13:1)

MY PRAYER: Lord Jesus, today I am fighting one battle upon another. Doors are being shut left and right, and I’m just not sure what my purpose is anymore. Just when I think I know what You are calling me to do, the opportunity is taken away from me and I feel helpless all over again. God, what is it that you want me to do?

REMINDER FROM GOD:

NOTE TO SELF: Not always does God speak. Not always can He either be found when we seek Him. King David often found himself in very similar situations: crying out to God with no response. “How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?” (Psalm 13:1 NKJV) The Message translates it this way: “Long enough God—you’ve ignored me long enough…” David didn’t quit, though. He sought harder and longer. What's even more fascinating is that he believed eventually God would answer him with an optimistic declaration: “I am full of answered prayers,” at the end of the Psalm (MSG). This is merely one example of David’s many outcries to God without an answer; without hearing God speak to him. I don't hear God today, but that doesn't mean I need to jump to crazy conclusions that God hates me, or doesn't care. David also reminds me to, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" (Psalm 27:14).

{In God's silence, we have two choices: 1. Quit; or 2. Know that He is still God. The first option seems to be the easiest and quickest solution, but it won’t make matters any better. Not always hearing from God doesn’t mean He’s not listening. It just means He’s working on it and we need to wait.}
