Just Trying to Be a Blessing

Today's NOTE TO SELF is written by Guest Blogger, Lori Kempton

“…Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it. (Colossians 4:17)

MY PRAYER: My heart yearns to fill my days serving You, Lord, in ways You have prepared for me to do so.  I beg of you to make my days count.  Fill me with your Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts and actions, and never let me tire of doing Your work.  Help me to inspire others and be your witness, even when I need inspiration myself. Give me passion and purpose that only You can give.  Amen.

REMINDER FROM GOD: I have given you countless examples of those who have gone before you and served Me in mighty ways.  Just to mention a few, Paul was in chains in prison while ministering to the church and encouraging them to finish strong.  His faith was amazing!  Job was praising Me, even when he lost it all.  Mary had to face a world of mockers and convince them she was a virgin, yet pregnant, with My Child.  Noah spent years building an ark for a flood no one believed would happen.  You, My child, can do the same.  You can be strong even when times are hard.  For it is My Holy Spirit living inside of you that will encourage, inspire, and guide you to the finish line of this world despite your circumstances. (See Colossians 4:17-18, Job 1:2-22, Luke 2:34-35, Hebrews 11:7)

NOTE TO SELF: It is the same God living in me that lived in those who have gone before me.  I need not whine or grumble when I am faced with opportunities to minister that seem futile or exhausting.  God never said it would be easy.  Rather, if I put God first, EVERY DAY, He will strengthen me and give me the passion I need to carry His mission forward.  God doesn’t need me to do His work here on earth; He allows me the privilege to serve Him because He knows how it will bless me.

{Has God asked you to do something that seems extreme or you just don’t understand His purpose in it all?  Our humanness may question and falter; but God’s direction brings purpose and blessings when we trust Him and follow…even when we don’t understand.  What are you waiting for?  Let’s be radical for Him in 2012!}
