Complain if You Must

“When I call, give me answers…” (Psalm 4:1)
highest level
MY PRAYER: My prayer does not feel like much of a prayer, Lord; instead it feels like I’m filing a complaint against You. I have sought You, cried out to You, and even begged You to answer my prayers. I hear nothing. I see nothing. All around me is chaos and confusion. Each day feels like the last. Nothing new. Nothing good. Nothing… I can’t take this much more. Not one more day of the same. I hate to complain God, but…

REMINDER FROM GOD: Come boldly to My throne of grace so you may obtain mercy and find grace to help you in your time of need. Complain if you must, but don’t lash out. Keep quiet and let your heart do the talking. Build your case before Me and wait for My verdict. While everyone is hungry for more, you have more than enough in Me. Because of My love for you, you experience more joy in one ordinary day.  Remember this: I hand picked you! You are an invited guest in My house. Run to Me for cover, My arms are open wide. The second you call out to Me, I listen. [As I’ve done before,] I will put your life back together. Your requests have all been granted, and your prayers are being answered.

{Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV); THE MSG: Psalm 4:4; Psalm 5:7; Psalm 6:9}

NOTE TO SELF: I often feel guilty when I complain to God, but He understands me. He expects me to come boldly to Him. Sometimes, though, it’s just as important to be quiet before Him and let my heart do the talking. Much like filing a complaint, God asks me to present my grievances to Him and He will listen and help me through His grace and mercy. Even if I never see another blessing in my life again, I can’t complain because I received the greatest gift of all when Jesus saved me from my life of sin and self-destruction.

Even when it seems as if everyone else around me is getting more than their fair share and I humbly and patiently wait for God to give me my portion, I still have more joy than than those who don’t know God at all, for I have salvation and glory in Jesus. I am no longer being judged for my past or present sins. Because of what Christ did on the cross, He now stands in my place and pronounces His verdict: “It is finished. I have already paid for this.” I may not have it all in the here and now, but I know what my future holds for me when I reach heaven’s gates. Nothing the world offers can compare to that.

{Complain if you must, but don’t lash out! Can you try to be quiet and let your heart do the talking? Have you often discovered that even in your complaining that God still listens and cares? Run to Jesus today. His arms are wide open and ready.}
