Are You There God, It's Me (Name Here)

“O my God, be not far from me!”
(Psalm 38:21)

MY PRAYER: I am feeling all alone in this, God. My child is sick and screaming in agony. My mother is dying from cancer. My friends have betrayed me, and my efforts are futile at work. I can’t seem to find You in my times of need; when I’m crying out to you I don’t see You or feel Your hand in my life. I often feel overlooked and forgotten down here, Lord. Are you there God?

REMINDER FROM GOD: My only Son cried out to Me, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” (My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?). He also said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.” For a mere moment I have left you, but with great mercies I will gather you. When you feel forgotten, know that I Am taking care of you. I will perfect that which concerns you, don’t forget that. As I was with Moses, so I Am with you. For My Name’s sake, and because I'm pleased with you, I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage. Do not be afraid of what things look like now. I Am your God, and I go with you wherever you go. You can depend on Me. Right on schedule, I will throw open the doors of My sky vaults and bless the work of your hands.

{Matthew 27:46; Mark 14:36; Isaiah 54:7; Psalm 38:21; Psalm 138:8; Joshua 1:5; 1 Samuel 12:22; Deuteronomy 31:6; 32:5 28:12 MSG}

NOTE TO SELF: I often fail to remember that Jesus was separated from His loving Father when He left heaven to come and redeem us. How alone Jesus must have felt; and at times He didn’t even feel God’s presence! As awful as that must have been for Him, how comforting it is for me to know that even Jesus felt far from God at times, begging to know where His Father was when He needed Him. There are moments in life when God needs to let me be on my own, but He never leaves me entirely abandoned. While I may suffer for a short time, God is ahead of me preparing my way; and not everything I want will be God’s will for my life.

{Are you feeling abandoned by God today? Have you told Him how you feel? God is with you, even when you can’t see or hear Him. Be comforted in knowing that even Jesus felt forsaken by God, but in the end Jesus rose from the dead in mighty victory!}
