Scripture to reflect upon for Thirsty Thursday: Ephesians 6:19
Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
We tend to forget that Paul and the other writers of the New Testament didn’t have the New Testament as their guiding hope as we do.
Paul is asking in this scripture that his friends and brothers and sisters in Christ would reveal the very mysteries of Christ’s purpose and message to newfound believers. I find this scripture fascinating because we read the Bible with such limited knowledge and tend to forget that it holds the keys to the knowledge that the first believers never had. They were, quite literally, winging it. They were moved ONLY by the Holy Spirit. They didn’t have a Bible that they could turn to. They relied solely on the Spirit of God to give them wisdom and knowledge, and in turn, they wrote it down for future generations.
The gospel is no longer a mystery, but sometimes God’s Word feels that way. As I write these blogs, I need Holy Spirit inspiration and revelation so as not to mislead or confuse those who faithfully come here for hope-filled wisdom.
Just as Paul asked the church of Ephesus to pray for him to receive messages from God, boldness, and revelation, I too, ask today that you pray for me for the same. That my message would be bold and filled with answers to the mysteries and treasures that are buried in God’s Word.
Our walk with Christ should always seek a deep desire to know the mysteries of God. It should burn within us and create such a longing for knowledge that it also launches off boldness in us that takes us on a higher level, able to share that Truth and knowledge with others.
NOTE TO SELF: Father, I pray that those who are faithful to this blog would receive great wisdom to the mysteries of Who You are, and find hidden treasures in Your Word each day. I pray that instead of hiding it within themselves, that they would find the boldness to open their mouths and share the Good News with others. Jesus, I ask that you continue to guide me in these daily devotions, that Your Truth would take precedence and others would discover hope, encouragement, enlightenment and mercy here. I ask that whenever someone reads this blog Your Spirit would seep deep into their lives. I pray for a resounding revelation in all who seek You earnestly!
