Your High Opinion

Scripture to reflect upon for Wisdom Wednesday: Proverbs 18:2
A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

I hear so many people today talking about God who don’t even know God. Worse yet, they will come to me and say they heard from God to justify their behaviors. In my spirit, I know they are merely using God’s name to get what they want and con me into believing that I should believe it too. Because they know my faith, and they know I pray, and they know I trust God, seek God and honor God, they will try to fool me into believing they do too. But my soul screams: LIAR!

The world is so eager to jump on a bandwagon and roll with it. Ask them why they are taking the ride and they will give you cute little mottos or repeated phrases they heard on TV. But if you dig deeper and say to them: “No! I didn’t ask for your group’s mission statement, I asked you why YOU believe in this cause,” most people can’t answer.

Knowing God means loving Him. It means knowing why you believe in Him and then living for Him. Your heart will feel the need to sing and dance, clap for joy, and rise to your feet enthusiastically when the music plays; and unwillingly your spirit lifts up shouts of joy to heaven. You don’t run from it, you run to it. You don’t hide from it, you relish in it. You don’t lie about it, you face the truth of it. It’s the fullness of God…or NOTHING!

You can’t have bits and pieces of Jesus and then put your “God stamp” on everything when it’s convenient for you. I know. I’ve tried it before. You can’t look me in the eyes and tell me you know God, or you are saved, when I see your discomfort in giving Him His due praise. I’ve been in your shoes and I know a half-hearted believer from a mile away. You only want to pick and choose what you want to believe about God, and then try to mold Him into something He’s not. I know, because I tried that, too! It doesn’t work. It’s all or nothing!! God demands all of you, and He requires you to know and understand all of Him.

I don’t want to hear God’s name used in your “opinions.” I don’t want to hear you use God to manipulate people or situations. I want to see you living in God's world...not this one! I want to see you honoring God the way He desires and deserves to be honored. I want to see you on your feet, clapping your hands, and lifting your hands in praise. I want to see you anxiously standing to honor God…not because the crowd does it, but because your heart and soul aches to do so!

When you know God—fully know God—nothing else will matter. You will cheer publically and not be ashamed, or think so highly of yourself and act as if it is so far beneath you. It’s the opinion of yourself that you’ve put in God’s place. It’s your absolute ego that requires such a low opinion about humbling yourself, because you believe you are too good for that. But you lack understanding of what God requires of you, and instead spew opinions that only satisfy you, not the Holy, living God!

If you can’t face God in the time and place that He is asking YOU to meet Him, then God’s not meeting you anywhere, any place, any time. God is not your puppet on a string. God is I AM. Stop giving everyone your opinions, and instead try learning to understand God. People will be much more willing to listen to your opinions.

NOTE TO SELF:  God isn’t your opinion. God won’t even give you His opinion. He speaks truth, not suggestions, or ideas, or thoughts. If you seek and listen, He will give you all the understanding you need, and opinions won't matter anymore...but the Truth will!
